The Domino Game That Won an Award and Your Heart
- Players: 2-4
- Best at: 2
- Playtime: about 15-20 minutes
- Price vibe: roughly 150-250 kr.
Why Kingdomino Is the Right Buy Right Now
Kingdomino takes the old idea of dominoes and turns it into a kingdom-building puzzle. You pick tiles, connect them with matching terrain and try to build the most valuable realm. It won the Spiel des Jahres award, which is a very good sign that families will enjoy it.
It is quick, elegant and very easy to learn. If you want a short, charming game you can teach in two minutes, this is a safe bet.
Why 2 Players Is the Sweet Spot
A Bigger Kingdom
In the two-player game, you build a larger 7×7 kingdom, and you each get to place two pieces per round. That gives you more choices and more planning, which makes the two-player game richer than the others.
More Control
With only one opponent, you can predict what they want and plan around it. It is more strategic and less random than the larger games.
A Perfect Duel
The quick pace and neat puzzle make it ideal for a quick head-to-head. You will often hear “rematch!” before the tiles are back in the box.
What About 3-4?
It is still a great family game with more players, just a bit more light and chaotic. Two is the best for those who like to plan.
Who Should Buy It?
- Couples who want a quick, clever game
- Families with kids
- Beginners who want an award-winning start
- Anyone who loves a neat little puzzle
What Will It Cost?
Kingdomino typically costs around 150-250 kr. That is about the price of a lunch combo. For a game with this much replay value, it is great value.
Verdict: A Royal Good Time
If you want a quick, friendly and strategic game that shines with two, Kingdomino is a great buy. It is simple, smart and fun for years.
